We all knew there was another Tony Hawk game coming, that was no surprise, what did make us do a double take is this sleek looking wireless skateboard. Tony Hawk Ride will feature this interesting little gadget that looks almost exactly like a skateboard (minus the wheels, for obvious reasons). While it may look similar, it is so much better than a normal board once you get into the details.
The controller will respond to player's turning and twisting motions to perform moves in the game, while an infrared sensor detects when you slide your foot beside the board to gain speed. Sensors will also allow you to perform grabs without actually bending down and grabbing the board, though details on how this will work are sketchy.
The Tony Hawk series took a year off to totally rethink its game design, since Skate totally blew away the recent Tony Hawk games. Hopefully it will pay off, and we'll be brought back to the glory days of Tony Hawk.
